On behalf of the Directorate of Medical Education, Research and Training, Assam, it is my proud privilege to heartily welcome all delegates to the 9TH National Conference of Health Professionals’ Educators (NCHPE) 2017 at Jorhat Medical College.
The frontiers of medical education in Assam is experiencing unprecedented expansion with many new medical colleges coming up in the past decade and many more being in the pipeline. This has created the need for a huge dedicated pool of faculty who will be able to impart quality education with the ultimate aim of producing world class Indian Medical Graduates.
It is high time that the traditional teaching learning methods of our medical schools be analysed thread bare in the modern day context. There is a palpable need to inculcate competency and professionalism among teachers, refine individual as well as collective skills in scientific teaching learning methodologies, research, administration and discharge of professional duties.
It is my sincere hope that NCHPE 2017 will be a unique learning experience that will sensitize all stake holders to work for the betterment of medical education in Assam. The whole hearted participation of faculty and students of medical, dental and nursing colleges, administrators of Health University, Directorate of Medical Education and Health department will be the perfect melting pot for formulating strategies and policies that will usher in a new era in medical education.
I would like to congratulate the organizing team of Jorhat Medical College for taking the onus of organizing this conference.
I would like to welcome you all again to NCHPE 2017 and wish you a pleasant stay here!
